On 15 June 2008 the Montenegrin Government introduced an eco tax for using road vehicles in Montenegro. The funds raised will be used for the implementation of environmental preservation and protection projects in Montenegro.

Although there is no limit to the amount of money you can bring into Montenegro, you are advised to declare sums of money in excess of €2,000 (including travellers’ cheques or equivalent in other currencies). This is recommended because to take more than €2,000 out of the country you will need to provide proof that you brought the money in.

Currency
Montenegrin currency is euro (EUR). 1 EUR = 100 cents.
The exchange of other foreign currencies is carried out at the counters of business banks and currency exchange offices.
Banks
The most widespread cards are VISA, Master, Maestro and Dineres, so you can carry out all kinds of monetary transactions.
Foreign citizens may bring into the country unlimited quantity of foreign currencies in cache which have to be reported on the occasion of entering the country, in order to be able to take them out.
Airports
If you have choosed to arrive by air, you could get here by one of the nearby international airports, Tivat or Podgorica, or at international airport Cilipi (Dubrovnik, Croatia) that is only 16 km away from the state border, and less then 60km from Kotor.
Airport Podgorica (TGD) is located 10km outside Podgorica, capital of Montenegro, and 90km from Kotor approximately 1, 5 hours by car. There are scheduled flights to Belgrade (Serbia) as well as to various European destinations. During summer season there are many charter flights to all major European cities.

Airport Tivat (TIV)is an ideal choice for our guests. It is situated less than 10 kilometers from Kotor, and it takes only 10 miniutes to get from it to our hotel. Car transportation and parking
Vehicle insurance is mandatory (carried out at the border crossing) , but Montenegro has got a special agreement with most European countries that keep out their citizens from this obligation. There are also many Rent-a-car agencies, so you can easily rent a vehicle right on the airport.
